Photogram: an image made through light
Chemigram: an image made through chemistry
Photograms and chemigrams, combined in my own way — a fascinating interplay between art and chemistry. This unique technique unites photographic and painterly processes, giving rise to images that lie beyond classical categories. Without a camera or lens, through the direct action of light, chemicals and a spirit of experimentation alone, works emerge that owe as much to chance as to my control.
The surface of the photographic paper becomes a field of experimentation: worked with light, developer, fixer, air and various other materials, forms, structures and textures emerge that often recall landscapes, organic patterns or abstract compositions. Every photogram and chemigram is a UNIQUE PIECE — a visual diary of my creative process.
In my work, the search for the imperfect stands at the centre. The unpredictability of the paper and the chemical reactions creates a particular tension that makes visible the interplay between chaos and control.
Through decades of experimenting and experience, however, I have learned to guide this unpredictability without losing the interplay between chaos and control. The goal is not so much to create a perfect image, but rather to explore the limits of material and technique.
Let yourself be inspired by this experimental world, and discover how photograms and chemigrams — and the interplay within them — redefine the rules of photography.
