Photogram: through Light picture taken
Chemigram: through Chemistry picture taken
Photograms and chemigrams, in my case in combination - a fascinating interplay between art and chemistry. This unique technique combines photographic and painterly processes, creating images that go beyond classical categories. Without a camera or lens, solely through the direct influence of light, chemicals and the joy of experimentation, works are created that owe as much to chance as to my control.
The surface of the photographic paper becomes a field of experimentation: processed with light, developer, fixer, air and various other materials, forms, structures and textures are created that are often reminiscent of landscapes, organic patterns or abstract compositions.
Each photogram/chemigram is UNIQUE - a visual diary of my creative process.
The search for the imperfect is at the forefront of my work. The unpredictability of the paper and the chemical reactions creates a special tension that makes the interplay between chaos and control visible. Through decades of experimentation and experience, however, I have learned to control this unpredictability without losing the interplay between chaos and control. The aim is not so much to create a perfect image, but rather to explore the limits of material and technique.
Be inspired by this experimental world and discover how photograms and chemigrams and the interaction within them redefine the rules of photography.
